Speaker: Author & IWC member Nancy Freund
Nancy Freund is the author of ‘Mailbox: A Scattershot Novel of Racing, Dares and Danger, Occasional Nakedness, and Faith’ (Gobreau Press, 2015), a novel of linked short stories named a Foreword Reviews finalist for Young Adult Book of Year and Writer’s Digest Young Adult/Middle Grade finalist. Freund also wrote ‘Rapeseed’ (2013), Foreword Reviews finalist for Book of the Year in General Fiction and Category Finalist for the Eric Hoffer Prize, and ‘Global Home Cooking: International Families’ Favorite Recipes’ (2014), which earned the Eric Hoffer Prize Honorable Mention and Amazon #1 bestseller status. Her poetry, essays, and short stories have or will appear in Panorama: The Journal of Intelligent Travel; Strands; Lakeview International Journal of Literature and the Arts; London’s Ham Free Press; The Sirenuse Journal; Offshoots; The Daily Mail; Female First; Blood Lotus Journal; Necessary Fiction; and The Istanbul Review. Her radio interviews have aired on BBC London, World Radio Switzerland, and Talk Radio Europe. In 2012, Freund was writer-in-residence for Necessary Fiction. Her short story “Marcus” won the Geneva Writers’ first fiction prize in 2013. She is Facebook’s faceless Grammar God and is active in community literacy projects for teens and adults. She holds a B.A. in English/Creative Writing and an M.Ed. from UCLA. She currently splits her time between Lausanne, Switzerland and Santa Barbara, California.
